These stadiums, among others across the country, cater to the sporting needs of different regions in Uganda. While some stadiums are primarily used for football matches, others also host athletics competitions and cultural events, contributing to the development of sports and community engagement throughout the country.
Major Stadiums in Uganda
Mandela National Stadium (Namboole Stadium)
Located in Kampala, the capital city, Namboole Stadium is the largest and most well-known sports facility in Uganda. It has a seating capacity of over 40,000 and hosts major football matches, national team games, athletics events, concerts, and other large-scale gatherings.
St. Mary's Stadium Kitende
This stadium, located in Kitende, is the home ground for Vipers SC, a prominent football club in Uganda. It’s a modern facility with a capacity of around 20,000 and hosts domestic league matches and other football events.
Pece Stadium
Situated in Gulu, Pece Stadium is a significant sports venue in northern Uganda. It serves as a location for football matches, athletics events, and local community gatherings.
Green Light Stadium
Located in Arua, Green Light Stadium is another notable sports facility in northern Uganda. It hosts football matches and other sporting events in the region.
Bugembe Stadium
This stadium is situated in Jinja and is utilized for football matches, athletics competitions, and community events in the Jinja area.
Mbale Municipal Stadium
Found in Mbale town, this stadium serves as a venue for football matches and various local sports events.
